Retrieve a Mapping Restriction Password

Lookup the Computer

  1. Log into the SYMMETRY Asset Management (Inventory) System
  2. Expand the left sidebar if it isn't, then click People
  3. Enter the client's last name in the search box
  4. Click the client's name

  5. Click the Assets tab
  6. Note the Asset Name on the line that says Laptop. It should be the only thing in the list with a name

Retrieve the Password

  1. On your computer, click Start, then search for Active Directory Users and Computers. Searching for Users is usually enough to bring it up

  2. Click Yes on the UAC prompt
  3. In the left sidebar, click the arrows next to ad.symmetryneuropt.comSYMMETRY, and Home
  4. Click Computers

  5. Double click the computer name found in Step 6 of the previous section
  6. Click the tab that says LAPS
  7. Click Show password to view the current restriction password, or Copy password to copy it to paste elsewhere

  8. If the date under Current LAPS password expiration is in the past, notify IT as the laptop may have lost communication with the management system
